Wallpaper to paint over

In principle, all types of wallpaper can be painted over. To do this, you only need the right colour and the right tools. But there is an important difference: some wallpapers are created to be painted, so to speak, for example paintable non-woven wallpaper that explicitly can be used as a base wallpaper. Leading manufacturers, brands and renowned collections offer charming paintable wallpapers with 3D-structure that you can finish in your own style and according to your wishes using a brush and paint pot.

Paintable wallpapers are usually white or show the natural colours of the upper material. In our online shop, you will find paintable non-woven wallpapers and textured wallpapers of well-known providers and product lines, for example of A.S. Création or Rasch. We also offer the special non-woven wallpapers to paint over, that you perhaps already know as a painter fleece, renovating fleece, non-woven base, or wallpaper primer. These are thin base wallpapers made from non-woven material with which you create on each wall a perfect base for the planned wallpapering or painting.

Many paintable non-woven wallpapers have an embossed structure, for example, the 3D imitation of a certain plastering technique, wipe or spatula technique. These surfaces provide excellent grip for the paint and are designed to be painted by the manufacturer. There are also paintable patterns, that are also achieved by different structures (higher and lower areas). To make sure the colour sticks, especially older wallpaper should be cleaned and primed, if necessary, before painting.

If you want to paint non-woven wallpapers that have a plastic coating (vinyl wallpaper), you need paints or varnishes which adhere to the smooth vinyl surface. Normal emulsion paint is not suitable.
